Capital One

As Principal Visual Designer for Capital One’s Small Business Design team, my responsibilities included wireframing, cross platform UI design, storyboarding and illustration.

Small Business Banking Redesign

Visual exploration for a possible refresh of client account dashboard. Explored account customization for visual recognition in case of the user with multiple accounts, and experimented with new font treatments, information tables, multiple users, and marketing banners.

Small Business Onboarding Design

Based on client feedback and a delay in account funding upon onboarding, this initiative was kicked off to explore how to improve their onboarding process and get them banking quicker. Through UI and messaging, we prompted clients with a number of tasks upon logging in, including starting a deposit to fund their account, downloading the app, activating their debit cards, granting privileges to another user with access to the business account and finally, connecting their accounting software. We tested the concepts with users in onsite research labs using low and mid fidelity prototypes.

While these concepts did not launch, the research and concepts helped inform other initiatives working to solve similar issues.

Small Business Owner Journey Map

Illustrating our clients’ various phases throughout their business ownership, based on client research, I designed this journey map to surface painpoints, frustrations and opportunities to improve our digital product experiences. This was leveraged in conversations with product owners and other stakeholders to inform them of the hardships our clients encounter as well as to illicit empathy for them.

This had a big impact on roadmap planning and helped prioritize certain product features and larger scale initiatives.

Small Business Story Boards

Illustrated storyboards that helped product owners visualize our customer's product journey, which resulted in product, design and dev partner alignment of vision for feature milestones while also facilitating implementation feasibility discussions.

UX Card Sorting Illustrations

Illustrated collateral to support card sorting exercises that helped facilitate user research with small business owners, which yielded insightful findings on their financial behaviors
